GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Clifton man is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a crash that killed his daughter and his girlfriend nearly two years ago.
Thirty-three-year-old Denny Hatch entered his pleas Thursday in a Mesa County courtroom to charges of criminally negligent homicide and driving with a revoked license.
Hatch was driving a 1993 Saturn that was struck broadside after he pulled into traffic on U.S. 50 on June 6, 2007. Twenty-four-year-old Jennifer Scarbrough had been holding 5-year-old Elizabeth Hatch on her lap.
Both were killed.
Denny Hatch’s driver’s license had been revoked since 2001. He also told investigators he’d smoked marijuana the night before the crash.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 3.
