GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Grand Junction police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman as she walked home earlier this week.

Authorities say the woman was walking on a sidewalk along North Avenue at about 3 a.m. Wednesday when a man grabbed her, dragged her a short distance behind a fence and attempted to sexually assault her.

The woman managed to escape. She ran to a nearby business and called police.

There was no immediate word on whether she was injured.

Police described the suspect as a bald Hispanic man, about 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds.

He was last seen wearing jeans, a long-sleeve T-shirt and small glasses.
