PYATT LEAVES CANUCKS AFTER FIANCÉE DIES
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Canucks forward Taylor Pyatt left the team after his fiancee was killed in a car accident.
Pyatt returned to his hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario, after Carly Bragnalo was killed Thursday in a crash while vacationing in Jamaica. The couple, both 27, planned to marry this summer.
Thomas signs extension
BOSTON — The Bruins rewarded goalie Tim Thomas with a new multiyear contract for a season in which he leads the NHL in goals-against average (2.11) and save percentage (.932).
Terms were not disclosed, but the deal reportedly brings Thomas, who made $1.1 million this season, in line with some of the best-paid goaltenders in the league.
