The state has kicked off its annual Great Colorado Payback.

State Treasurer Cary Kennedy says individuals have a chance to claim their unclaimed or lost property.

The state holds onto everything from unique items including coins and diamond jewelry to stock certificates, and old retirement accounts. The items also include state tax rebates people have not claimed.

Kennedy released the names of nearly 80,000 people who have been added to the list with unclaimed assets.

Banks, business or state agency’s are required by law to file a report and forward information on assets that have been left behind by individuals, the state then takes possession.

Kennedy says this year Colorado is on pace to give back close to $30 million to people.

There are no time limits for filing your claim.
