ELDORA MOUNTAIN RESORT: Announced the appointment of Jim Spenst as general manager. Spenst was formerly vice president of operations at Tamarack Resort in Idaho.

DENVER ZOO: Promoted Ana Bowie to vice president for strategic initiatives and external affairs, a newly created position to guide the zoo’s master plan. The zoo also named Trish Ennis director of workplace safety, and David Kenny returns in a new part- time capacity as conservation veterinary coordinator. Kenny retired last year after 18 years as senior veterinarian.

WACHOVIA SECURITIES: Named Robert Hart vice president investments in the Evergreen office.

UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO AT BOULDER: Joaquin Espinosa, an assistant professor of molecular, cellular and developmental biology, and Rob Knight, an assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry as well as computer science, are the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Scientist award winners. HHMI will provide each scientist with his full salary, benefits and a research budget of $1.5 million over the six-year appointment.

EQUITABLE SAVINGS AND LOAN: Elected Stephen L. May, senior vice president and chief operating officer, to the board of directors.

COBANK: Announced that Terry Barr, a nationally recognized agricultural economist, will join the bank as senior director.

COLORADO WOMEN’S CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Welcomed Judy Cara, director of corporate citizenship at Western Union Foundation, to the board of directors.

KENTWOOD CITY PROPERTIES: Susan Henderson joined the firm as a broker associate.

TREES, WATER & PEOPLE: Named Jon Becker, co-owner of SolarGlass Window and Door Inc. in Boulder, as president of the board of directors.

COLDWELL BANKER RESIDENTIAL: Appointed Leigh Bramer as a broker associate in the Parker office.

MERRICK & CO.: Announced the addition of Bart Carpenter and Greg Heuer as senior technical specialists.
