DENVER—The Colorado Rockies purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Matt Belisle from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.
The Rockies designated pitcher Juan Morillo for assignment.
The 28-year-old Belisle was a non-roster invitee to spring training and went 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA for Colorado in exhibition play.
He was 1-4 with the Cincinnati Reds in 2008 before having season-ending knee surgery on Aug. 19. In portions of five seasons with the Reds, Belisle compiled a 16-22 mark with a 5.06 ERA.
The 25-year-old Morillo made the opening day roster for the Rockies, but didn’t pitch in three games at Arizona.
