Getting your player ready...
LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska Game and Parks officials are reminding turkey hunters to be careful and safe when shotgun season opens on Saturday.
About 45,000 turkey hunting permits were issued in Nebraska last year, and there were only two reports of hunters getting hurt.
Hunter education coordinator Mike Streeter says the most-common problem facing turkey hunters is shooting at something they believe is a turkey but is actually another person.
Streeter says hunters should always identify their targets as turkeys and make sure they know what’s behind their target. If hunters are in doubt, they shouldn’t shoot.
