Breckenridge freeskier Duncan Adams finished fourth in the overall Winter Dew Tour standings but first in the hearts of voters naming the 2009 Ball Park Alpha Dawg champion. The Alpha Dawg award recognizes up-and-coming winter athletes younger than 18 who have competed on the pro level for less than two years.

Adams, 16, finished third in the superpipe at the Dew Tour stop in Breckenridge this winter, following up with solid results in the final two events. The award came with a $5,000 check.

“I’m super excited to be chosen to be an Alpha Dawg,” Adams said. “The Winter Dew Tour has definitely done a lot for the up-and-coming winter athletes.”

Wright, Lopez shine.

Consistency paid off for Crystal Wright and Julien Lopez as they won their first Freeskiing World Tour overall titles with podium finishes Sunday at the Subaru World Freeskiing Championships at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska.

Wright, of Jackson, Wyo., finished second to Rebecca Selig of Snowbird, Utah, in the season finale. Frenchman Lopez was third behind Tim Dutton of Squaw Valley, Calif., and Lars Chickering-Ayers of Vermont. Dylan Crossman of Alta, Utah, was named the Sickbird Award winner at the Alyeska event.

Running Hall nominations.

The Colorado Running Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for its third class of inductees. The deadline is April 21.

The 2009 class will be inducted at a ceremony in May. To nominate an individual, go to , click on “About Us,” then click on “Hall of Fame.”

Moab discount.

Registration fees for the annual 24 Hours of Moab mountain bike race have been rolled back to 1999 pricing through Wednesday at midnight. The race is scheduled for Oct. 10-11 with discounted registration available at .

Community Cycles, a nonprofit organization that educates and advocates for the safe use of bicycles, will have a bike sale fundraiser Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Boulder’s Central Park, at the corner of Broadway and Canyon. Slide show, book signing.

Bo Parfet, author of “Die Trying: One Man’s Quest to Conquer the Seven Summits,” will share stories from the world’s tallest peaks at a slide show and book signing at Neptune Mountaineering (633 South Broadway, Boulder) at 8 p.m. Thursday. The unlikely adventurer faced severe learning disabilities and dyslexia before turning to mountaineering.
