When the ski resorts close, it’s mud season. And this time of year we see plenty of it on the plains as well. Contributors to The Denver Post’s $25 Haiku Contest wrote about the pleasures of squishing mud between their toes and of the extra cleaning required when pets drag it into the house. Winner Rhonda Hageman of Englewood has a pet without such issues:
Cats walk on tiptoe
dance ballet across the yard —
they hate muddy paws!
