Two men working on the outside of a house in Boulder were injured today after a ladder fell on a power line.
First responders were called to the house in the 1100 block of University Avenue at about 9:45 a.m., Boulder police said in a news release.
Apparently the men were painting and had an aluminum extension ladder against the house. The ladder fell and hit a 7,650-volt power line, the release said.
A 22-year-old man holding the ladder, Scott Ottis, received a jolt of electric current. A 25-year-old man, Steven Newton, was hit by the falling ladder.
Both men were taken to Boulder Community Hospital.
Ottis was transferred to University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora and is in serious condition, police said.
Newton was treated and released.
The police news release said the home was a former fraternity house that had recently been purchased.
