A Denver teenager was injured Tuesday night when he fell down a window well and one of his legs was impaled by a piece of a metal grate.

The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 12200 block of East Burlington Place, said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

The 13-year-old boy was standing on a grate covering a window well when the grate gave way, Champagne said. The teen fell about 6 feet and a portion of the grate impaled his leg. Kieran Nicholson, The Denver Post
