Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles today was added to the U.S. national team for the April 24-May 10 Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Switzerland.
Coached by Toronto’s Ron Wilson, the USA team’s other defensemen will be Florida’s Keith Ballard, Atlanta’s Zach Bogosian and Ron Hainsey, Los Angeles’ Jack Johnson, Dallas’ Matt Niskanen, and Nashville’s Ryan Suter.
The initial roster is mostly made up of players on NHL teams that missed the playoffs. Later additions can come from teams that lose in the first round.
