Getting your player ready...

Colorado women’s basketball coach Kathy McConnell-Miller targeted an athletic forward with rebounding skills for the spring signing period. Mission accomplished.

On Thursday, CU gained the signature of Kailah Bailey, a 6-foot power forward from Omaha (Neb.) Central High School. Collegiate Girls Basketball Report had ranked Bailey as the nation’s ninth-best unsigned player. As with men’s basketball, most blue-chippers in women’s hoops commit during the November signing period.

“Kailah is the perfect fit for Colorado basketball,” McConnell-Miller said. “She brings athleticism, finesse and a rebounding mentality that fits an immediate need for our program.”

Bailey missed her senior season after injuring a knee during her junior year. She also excelled in track (sprints, high jump) before the injury.

The second player in CU’s recruiting class from Nebraska, Bailey joins 6-7 center Melissa McFarlane of Omaha Millard North, who signed in November. Also signing with Colorado during the early signing period were three in-state players: 5-10 Janeesa “Chucky” Jeffery of Colorado Springs Sierra and 6-2 twins Brenna and Meagan Malcolm-Peck of Horizon.
