GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Prosecutors have filed two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol against a Mesa County man accused of running over his 11-month-old granddaughter.

Fifty-year-old Anthony Woods was charged Thursday during an appearance in a Grand Junction courtroom.

An arrest affidavit indicates Woods drank four to six beers over a two- to three-hour period March 14 while working on a vehicle in his garage. He was allegedly backing out of the garage when Paytonn Elizabeth Garlick moved into the vehicle’s path.

She was discovered lying on the ground not breathing. She died of head injuries two days later.

Woods is free on bail.

A home phone number for Woods couldn’t be located and it wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.
