COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police say they are investigating a possible case of child abuse after a baby was hospitalized with a brain injury.

Police say emergency crews were sent to a home Wednesday to help a 7-month-old child reported to be in respiratory distress. The baby was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where doctors determined the child had a brain injury.

The child has been transferred to intensive care at Memorial Hospital. Police say the child is in serious condition.

No names or other details have been released.
