Andrew Penner stopped 38 shots, and Aaron Schneekloth and Konrad Reeder each had a goal and an assist to lead the Colorado Eagles to a 4-1 victory Friday night over the Mississippi RiverKings in Loveland.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Northern Conference championship series in the Central Hockey League playoffs.

Game 3 is scheduled Tuesday in Southaven, Miss.

Also, the Eagles signed defenseman Justin DaCosta for their stretch run. DaCosta spent the past two seasons playing for the University of New Brunswick.

Pioneers slog out win.

Heavy snow and rain didn’t deter the University of Denver men’s lacrosse team Friday, as the Pioneers routed visiting Detroit 10-1 at Peter Barton Stadium.

The Pioneers (7-6) were led by Joey Murray and Charley Dickenson, who each scored two goals. Peyton Tyrie stopped five-of-six shots in 45 minutes in goal for DU, and Zander Buteux stopped four shots in 15 minutes of relief.

Rapids complete TV schedule.

The Colorado Rapids’ game Sunday against the host Houston Dynamo will be televised locally, after the team reached a deal with NBC’s Universal Sports. The game airs on KUSA’s digital channel 9.3 and on Comcast channel 250.

Three other Rapids games will air on Universal, completing a full broadcast schedule. With 24 of the team’s other games airing on Altitude and several others on Fox Sports and ESPN, each of the Rapids’ games this season will be on TV.

Mannino, Will honored.

Paralympic skiing champions Greg Mannino of Eagle and Sarah Will of Vail were named finalists for possible induction into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, the U.S. Ski Team said. Mannino and Will joined Olympic champ Picabo Street and 12 others as finalists. The inductees will be named in early July before being honored in August.
