– Former Avalanche player and front-office member Eric Lacroix will not be a candidate to succeed Francois Giguere as the team’s general manager.

Lacroix, currently a scout with the Phoenix Coyotes, told The Denver Post today he is not under consideration, nor would he take the job if offered.

Last Saturday on CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada” broadcast, the network said Lacroix would be the team’s next GM and that Patrick Roy would be the next coach. Lacroix, 37, said there was never any possibility that would happen.

Lacroix’s father, Pierre, remains in search mode for the team’s next GM. Coach Tony Granato is in no danger of losing his job until the next GM is named, but it remains to be seen how secure his job will be after Giguere’s successor takes power.
