A fire in the 8400 block of West Colfax Avenue caused severe damage to a store front in a strip mall in Lakewood.
Heavy smoke and flames could be seen shooting out from Rockley Warehouse facing Colfax Avenue Friday around 6 p.m. Fire crews had the blaze under control in 20 minutes but the warehouse was severely damaged. Other stores in the strip mall received only smoke damage, according to Michelle French of the West Metro Fire Protection District.
Down the street from the strip mall is Rockley Music Center, which was not damaged. The warehouse was used to service and repair pianos.
Nobody was injured in the fire, French said.
“At this point our fire fighters are still inside doing salvage and overhaul and looking for hot spots,” she said.
