OURAY, Colo.—A Colorado Department of Transportation snow plow driver has been treated and released from a hospital after his vehicle rolled off a highway amid heavy snow.
The Colorado State Patrol says plow driver Dack Klein of Ridgway was working along U.S. 550 at about 3 a.m. Thursday when he moved over to avoid an oncoming vehicle. The plow drifted into soft snow and rolled one and a quarter times down a snowpacked embankment on Red Mountain.
The plow came to rest on its side about 60 feet below the road.
Klein was trapped for a short time until a passing motorist came to his aid. Klein then waited inside the motorist’s vehicle for medical help.
Trooper Gordon McCaslin says Klein was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and released later Thursday morning.
