BROOMFIELD — Unpacking and moving into a new home is never easy, even if you work for a company that specializes in helping its customers pack and store things.
That’s a lesson employees of The Container Store learned the past few weeks as they prepared its new FlatIron Crossing mall location for its Saturday grand opening.
The Container Store is one of three tenants moving into a 120,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Lord & Taylor. The pricey department store left Broomfield in 2005, leaving empty one of FlatIron Crossing’s five anchor spots.
The Container Store will fill about 25,000 square feet, company spokeswoman Audrey Roberston said. The store is the company’s third location in Colorado.
Above it will be Forever 21, a fashion chain that is in the midst of a major expansion around the country. The store will fill more than 55,000 square feet. Crews should begin remodeling the store soon and the store is expected to open by early September, said Heather Drake, FlatIron Crossing’s senior marketing manager.
A space of more than 30,400 square feet remains to be leased. It’s on the lower level of the building next to the Container Store.
