PHOENIX—Colorado’s Franklin Morales has left the Rockies-Arizona Diamondbacks game in the third inning because of a strained left shoulder.
After singling home a run to give the Rockies a 3-2 lead over Arizona on Tuesday night, Morales went to the mound to warm up in the bottom of the third. But manager Clint Hurdle and a trainer came out for a conference, and Morales soon walked to the dugout.
Morales was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs earlier in the day. Morales allowed two runs—on solo homers by Chris Young and Eric Byrnes—in two innings.
Glendon Rusch relieved Morales and allowed consecutive hits to Felipe Lopez, Augie Ojeda and Conor Jackson as the Diamondbacks took a 4-3 lead.
