FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A transient man found dead in Fort Collins appears to have died slowly after breaking his neck, then lay undiscovered for several weeks.

Coroner’s investigators say 25-year-old Michael R. Robinson fell in a rocky area of Maxwell Natural Area and died slowly when no help arrived. His body stayed there about three weeks until hikers discovered him Monday evening.

Investigators say Robinson was a transient with a drug problem who was malnourished. The autopsy showed he suffered a broken neck and ribs in the fall but likely died of exposure. Robinson was last seen by family members in late March.
