AURORA, Colo.—A court hearing has been rescheduled for next month for an Aurora man accused of pocketing money from a charity poker tournament that was supposed to benefit a bereaved family.
Thirty-year-old Matthew William Keysacker was scheduled to appear Wednesday in Arapahoe County Court, but the hearing was delayed because Keysacker does not yet have an attorney. The hearing was reset for May.
Keysacker faces a charge of theft by deception.
The Dec. 7 tournament was supposed to raise money for the family of 3-year-old Marten Kudlis, who was killed Sept. 4 when a pickup crashed into an Aurora shop where he was getting an ice cream cone.
Court documents show the tournament raised nearly $3,500.
Keysacker told the Aurora Sentinel in February he’s not guilty.
