CENTENNIAL — A judge Friday ordered a second mental evaluation of a man who police say stabbed his wife to death while their two young children were in their Aurora home.
Matthew James Watkins, 40, faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of his wife, Cora, 31, in January 2008.
A previous evaluation by the state mental hospital in Pueblo found Watkins was competent to stand trial. But defense attorney Justin Bogan argued Friday that the state hospital did not consider several incidents from Watkins’ past.
