KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo College says its windfall from a mystery donor was $2 million — twice the amount it previously disclosed. The private school in Michigan announced this month that it received a $1 million gift for student aid from a donor who wished to remain anonymous. Last week, it disclosed a second check.
At least a dozen schools, including the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, received donations in a similar fashion. The recipient colleges seem to have almost nothing in common except this: So far, all are led by women.
