Dexter Fowler was a tired but happy young man Sunday. He raced around center field, making five putouts, and went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. It was the first three-hit game of his career and fourth multi-hit game of the season. His ability to glide to balls in the outfield is making Coors Field seem a lot less cavernous. “He’s a good guy to have behind you,” pitcher Jason Marquis said.
Bake’s show.
Jeff Baker started at third base and hit a bases-loaded triple over Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp in the Rockies’ five-run fifth inning. The three RBIs were the first of the season for Baker. “I feel like I’ve been hitting the ball hard, and I finally hit it to the right spot,” Baker said. “I can’t control playing time or anything else. All I can do his put good swings on the ball, and then I know good things will happen.”
Closer woes.
Manuel Corpas remains a work in progress. He gave up a run on three hits in the ninth and wasn’t particularly sharp. His ERA stands at 6.48.
