MURDOCK MURDERS-LAWSUIT
OMAHA—Less than a week after being indicted for allegedly tampering with evidence in a homicide investigation, Douglas County’s CSI commander is being sued in federal court by one of the men who was wrongfully charged in the double-murder case. On Sunday, Nicholas Sampson filed paperwork to add David Kofoed and the Douglas County sheriff’s office to a 2007 lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court against the Nebraska State Patrol and the Cass County sheriff’s office. KEYSTONE XL HEARINGS
SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—Western South Dakota residents get their chance Monday and Tuesday to speak out about a planned crude oil pipeline that could one day carry 900,000 barrels of oil a day through the state. TransCanada Keystone Pipeline already is building a pipeline through eastern South Dakota. The company’s second proposed pipeline, Keystone XL, is designed to run 313 miles through western South Dakota as part of a project to deliver Alberta tar sands crude oil to Gulf Coast terminals and refineries in Texas. ANNUAL MEETINGS-SCENE
NEW YORK—Just a few years ago, companies staging annual meetings brought in acts like Paul McCartney and Tony Bennett. At the very least, they offered snacks as CEOs boasted about big profits. This year, when stockholder Ram Bijapur decided to show up at the Hilton hotel for the Citigroup meeting because he was angry about the bank’s steep losses, what he found was decidedly more sparse. FBN–NEBRASKA-DRAFT
OMAHA—Nebraska’s Matt Slauson heard a voice from the past when the New York Jets called to tell him they had taken him in the sixth round of the NFL draft. It was none other than former Cornhuskers coach Bill Callahan on the other end. Callahan became the Jets’ assistant head coach and offensive line coach after getting fired at Nebraska in December 2007, and he wanted to congratulate Slauson on his big day.
