Getting your player ready...

According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association, more Americans now paddle a kayak, canoe or raft than play soccer. And being the dog-friendly nation that we are, it stands to reason that our water-loving canine companions are spending at least as much time rolling down the river as they are playing Frisbee.

With that in mind, Oregon-based Ruff Wear recently introduced the Big Eddy Float Coat (MSRP: $75) designed to give Rover a leg up on his doggy paddle. The Big Eddy is one of two new DFDs (as in Dog Flotation Device) the company is offering. This top-of-the-line design is built for aggressive swimmers in rough or fast-moving water, and has a reinforced assistance handle to make it easier to lift dogs out of the water.
