Derek Tolan carded a 2-under-par 68 in the second round Monday and jumped to the top of the leaderboard after two rounds at the Big 12 men’s golf championship in Hutchinson, Kan.
Tolan was at 1-under 139 after two rounds, tying him with Baylor’s Bill Allcorn for the lead.
Colorado was tied atop the team standings with Oklahoma State at 581, the first time Colorado led its conference tournament after two rounds since 1968. The final round at the 6,701-yard Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., will be played today.
CU’s Patrick Grady was three shots back at 142.
Eagles to host CHL title openers.
The Colorado Eagles will host the Texas Brahmas for the first two games of the Central Hockey League’s Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals beginning Wednesday at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. Game 2 is scheduled for Friday in Loveland. Aaron Schneekloth recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Eagles to a 5-2 win over the Mississippi RiverKings late Sunday night to clinch the Northern Conference finals 4-2.
CSU coaches join tour.
Colorado State coaches Steve Fairchild (football), Tim Miles (men’s basketball), Tom Hilbert (volleyball) and Kristen Holt (women’s basketball), among others, will be in attendance for the school’s “RamStorming Tour” when it stops today in Eaton, Wednesday at the Denver Tech Center and Thursday in Colorado Springs. DU, CU women invited to golf regionals.
The Denver women’s golf team was selected for the NCAA East Regional as a No. 6 seed. The Pioneers will play in Gainesville, Fla., on May 7-9. Colorado was seeded 16th in the West Regional and will play in Tempe, Ariz. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional to the NCAA Championships.
