Antero for boats.
Antero Reservoir will open Friday to trailered boats in keeping with availability of inspection crews to examine craft for mussels and other invasive species. In a change from last year, boats may be launched only from the south ramp. Hours of inspection will be a half-hour before sunrise until a half-hour after sunset. Hand-launched craft may be used anywhere around the lake.
See the moose.
May is prime time for viewing moose at the Colorado State Forest along Highway 14 between Fort Collins and Walden. The highest concentrations of the large animals can be found on Cameron Pass, at the peak of the highway, and in North Park, the broad valley around the town of Walden.
Early morning and late afternoon are the best time for viewing. Expect them in willows and other low brush along small streams.
