A bill that would authorize the state treasurer to give loans for schools to put solar panels or other renewable-energy devices on their buildings won initial approval in the state Senate on Tuesday.
House Bill 1312 passed after sponsor Sen. Gail Schwartz, D-Snowmass Village, amended it to require districts to consult with local banks about possible financing. The bill still needs final Senate approval.
Meanwhile, another major renewable-energy financing bill — one to create a complicated statewide special district to give loans to homeowners for putting renewable-energy devices on their houses — has been pulled by its sponsor. Rep. Joe Miklosi, D-Denver, said he wanted to bring it back next session.
