A 53-year-old Douglas County man was convicted Monday of patronizing a 16-year-old prostitute he hired on Craigslist.
Timothy Houser of Parker was arrested in October 2006 by Douglas County Sheriff’s detectives, based on information from a Denver police investigation, according to the Douglas County District Attorney’s office.
According to prosecutors, Houser hired the teenager through an “Erotic Services” ad on the Craigslist website, gave the girl directions to his home and paid for sex.
“The public should also be aware that if you patronize an underage prostitute, even unknowingly, you will be prosecuted as a child sex offender,” prosecutor Brian Sugioka said in a statement.
Houser is free on bond and he will be sentenced on June 26. He faces 10 years to life on probation or a minimum of two years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s office.
