DENVER—The Denver Post says it retained 95 percent of home-delivery subscribers to the Rocky Mountain News in the first month after the News folded.

The Post said in Tuesday’s editions it also retained 70 percent of the News’ single-copy newsstand sales in that period.

The E.W. Scripps Co. closed the News after its Feb. 27 editions, citing mounting losses. News subscribers are getting The Post for the length of their paid-up subscriptions.

The Post’s weekday circulation was 371,728 between Feb. 28, after the News closed, and March 31. Its Sunday circulation in that period was 526,235.

William Dean Singleton, chairman and publisher of The Post and CEO of its parent, ap Inc., is chairman of the board of The Associated Press.
