A man climbing a canyon wall near U.S. 6 west of Golden injured his legs or back in a steep fall this evening.
The man has not been named. He was climbing without a helmet about 7:45 p.m. when he fell initially 12 feet, then again another 18 feet onto a dirt ledge, said Golden Fire Department spokeswoman Debbie Testroet.
Rescuers needed nearly two hours to get him down from the ledge.
He was talking and alert during the rescue but he was unable to walk, Testroet said.
