A judge Tuesday ordered that Fort Carson soldier Robert Hull Marko stand trial for first-degree murder in the death of a woman whose throat was slashed after she was bound and gagged in the foothills west of Colorado Springs.
Judge Larry E. Schwartz also ordered that Marko, a 21-year-old Iraq war veteran, face charges of first-degree kidnapping and sex assault on a child in an abduction involving a 14-year-old girl that allegedly happened five days before the Oct. 10 murder.
The ruling followed two days of testimony in a preliminary hearing in 4th Judicial District Court.
Marko is accused of killing Judilianna “Judi” Lawrence, whose nude body was found in a wooded area west of Colorado Springs after a four-day search.
Marko became a suspect after the victim’s family discovered e-mails between the pair on her page.
At Tuesday’s hearing, investigators described how Marko gradually revealed to them what he had done.
