FORT COLLINS, Colo.—An autopsy confirms a Fort Collins man was drunk when he crashed his motorcycle, killing himself and his estranged wife.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan on Friday cited an autopsy report released by the Larimer County coroner’s office in reporting that Joseph Reed’s blood-alcohol content was 0.139. Driving in Colorado is illegal with a BAC above 0.08.
Court records also show the 25-year-old Reed had no valid license because of previous convictions for multiple driving-related offenses, including driving under the influence of alcohol.
Reed was not wearing a helmet at the time of the March 22 crash.
The autopsy found 24-year-old Shallie Reed of Thornton was wearing a helmet, contradicting what the Colorado State Patrol said after the initial investigation.
