DENVER—An elderly ice cream vendor in Denver is accused of trying to kidnap and sexually assault a 10-year-old girl walking home from school.
Police say 81-year-old Salvador Galdamez approached the girl last week in southwest Denver. Authorities say Galdamez offered the girl free ice-cream from his cart, then said he would rob her when she refused the ice cream.
Authorities say Galdamez grabbed the girl, but she wriggled free and ran to her grandmother’s house. Police say the ice cream man followed her and asked her to be his girlfriend and give him a kiss.
The next day, the girl spotted Galdamez outside her school and told the principal. Galdamez faces enticement and attempted kidnapping charges and was being held on bond Tuesday.
