Adams State’s Aaron Braun set a meet and stadium record in the 1,500 meters in leading the Grizzlies to a third consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s track championship Tuesday at Rex Stadium in Alamosa.
Braun’s time of 3 minutes, 49.44 seconds broke a 10-year-old record in the RMAC championships.
Adams State’s 220 points beat rival Western State, which had 182 1/2. Nebraska-Kearney followed at 140.
• In the RMAC women’s championships, Adams State won a record sixth straight title with 185 points, ahead of Neb.-Kearney (148) and Western State (143 1/2).
Grizzlies freshman Lindsey Grasmick set an RMAC championship record in the 400 hurdles, finishing in 1:01.82.
Eagles on the brink.
The Texas Brahmas erupted for four goals in the final 10 minutes of the second period and defeated the Colorado Eagles 6-3 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Central Hockey League’s Ray Miron President’s Cup Finals at North Richland Hills, Texas.
The power play continues to hurt the Eagles, who held Texas to 2-of-11 with the man advantage, but Colorado was unable to mount much offense while constantly on the penalty kill. Ed McGrane scored twice for Colorado.
CSU, DU golf teams in regionals.
The Colorado State men’s golf team will take a No. 6 seed into one of six NCAA regional tournaments starting May 14. The Rams, who earned an at-large bid, will play at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J.
