An armed man who kept police at bay overnight was arrested early this morning.

The incident started at about 8:45 p.m. Monday at a construction business in the 400 block of Lipan Street, said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

The man, Joseph Pizarro, 37, entered the business with a gun, and people fled the building, Jackson said.

A SWAT team surrounded the building, cut power to nearby lighting, and searched for the armed man, who hid in the warehouse-like building.

Police found Pizarro, along with several weapons, and he was taken into custody without further incident at about 4:50 a.m., Jackson said. No one was injured.

Pizarro is being held on suspicion of felony menacing, harassment and for a misdemeanor violation of a restraining order. Additional charges are possible, police said.
