WASHINGTON — Colorado will be one of nine states where the Department of Interior will expand staff to expedite the production of renewable energy on public lands, Secretary Ken Salazar announced Tuesday. The department will set up renewable energy coordination offices in California, Nevada, Wyoming and Arizona, while Colorado will get a smaller “renewable energy team” along with four other Western states.

Using $41 million dedicated for fast-tracking the development of renewables by the Bureau of Land Management, the teams will expedite permitting and siting for wind farms, solar arrays and other resources on the gusty plains and desert Southwest.
