Olivia Wagner of Alexander Dawson in Lafayette has been named Colorado’s Gatorade girls soccer player of the year. She will lead the Mustangs into today’s Class 3A state quarterfinals at home against Denver Christian (7 p.m.). Wagner, who will play for Maryland’s Terrapins next season, has 29 goals (73 in her career) and nine assists in 2009. She was 3A all-state honorable mention a year ago by The Denver Post. Owner of a 3.31 grade-point average, Wagner also is a captain of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region IV Olympic Development Team and is eligible for Gatorade player of the year.
