So, Chauncey Billups was asked Friday, have you properly thanked Joe Dumars for trading you to the Nuggets?
“No, no,” Billups said. “I’m sure they weren’t thinking it was going to happen like that. They knew it was going to be a good landing spot for me, but they didn’t think this. It wasn’t like they did the trade and it was like, ‘All right, go ahead and go to the Western finals, be an all-star, be this, be that, good luck.’
“It wasn’t like they were doing that. They thought that’s what they were going to get. They were going to be in the East finals. They thought it was going to be a little different. I don’t really take satisfaction in them not doing great . . . but I’m extremely happy with how it worked out for me.”
