The state’s public and private high schools voluntarily agreed to form the Nebraska School Activities Association in 1910. In its constitution, the NSAA says its mission is:
— to formulate and make policies which will cultivate high ideals of citizenship, fair competition, sportsmanship and teamwork which will compliment the member schools’ curriculum programs.
— to foster uniformity of standards in interscholastic activity competition.
— to organize, develop, direct and regulate an interscholastic activity program which is equitable and will protect and promote the health and physical welfare of all participants.
NSAA boys sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track wrestling.
NSAA girls sports: basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball.
NSAA activities: debate, instrumental music, journalism, orchestra, play production, speech, student council, vocal music.
