MONTROSE, Colo.—JetAway Aviation in Montrose says it has laid off 20 employees amid a squabble with the county over an access permit to the local airport and fees.
Montrose County commissioners say the layoffs are the company’s fault for not following the rules.
JetAway Aviation CEO Stephen Stuhmer blames the layoffs in recent weeks to on the county, saying it put them “out of business.”
County officials says they indefinitely suspended JetAway’s access to the Montrose Regional Airport because the company didn’t have an access permit and had not paid the required $75,000 fee.
