FORT MORGAN — Amanda Holbert, whose 9-month-old baby drowned in a bathtub in July, was sentenced to four years of probation Tuesday in Morgan County District Court.
Holbert, 23, had pleaded guilty in March to reckless manslaughter in the death of her son, Isaiah Perez.
Prosecutor James Bartkus said Holbert spent about 20 minutes on the phone instead of watching the child in the tub. But defense attorney A.C. Lusby said: “She thought she had turned off the water in the tub, and she had not.”
