AURORA, Colo.—An Aurora police detective is facing a domestic violence charge after his wife told police he assaulted her.
Detective Evina Evander Brim pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge Friday in Aurora Municipal Court.
His attorney, Iris Eytan, says Brim is innocent and she expects the charges will be dismissed soon.
The 51-year-old Brim is an eight-year veteran of the department and works in the property crime unit. He is accused of assaulting his wife following an argument at the couple’s Aurora home.
A police spokesman says Brim was placed on paid administrative leave following his May 3 arrest and has since been assigned to desk duty.
He is due back in court next month for a pretrial hearing.
