Dipping toes in an icy creek is a warm- weather rite of passage ’round these parts, and this weekend brings the perfect time to do it during the 22nd annual Boulder Creek Festival. The three-day event includes hundreds of vendors showcasing everything from community arts and crafts to health alternatives, five performance stages, carnival rides, food and its signature event: The Great Rubber Duck Race. Located downtown along Boulder Creek, the festival stretches from Ninth to 14th streets, and between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Sunday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday. Admission is free.

Time is running out for train buffs to glimpse “Picturesque Colorado,” an exhibit of 20 vintage railroad advertising photographs and photochromes on display through May 31 at the Byers-Evans House Museum. Built in 1883, the house itself is a reflection of Colorado’s pioneer history. These photos from the W.G. Eloe collection of Colorado and the American West lend insight into the role railroads played in the state’s early development. 1310 Bannock St., Denver.
