Sensibly Sustained is a Golden-based company offering two upcoming straw-bale construction workshops inspired by Crestone’s annual Alternative Energy Festival. The one-day workshops, led by Derek Esposito of Olde World Plasters and Jesse Coates of Coates Custom Design, will review the history of “sod-house” construction along with foundation issues, mechanical systems, materials and construction techniques. May 30 at the Namaste Hospice Art and Event Center, 3945 Tennyson St., and June 6 at 910 Arts, 910 Santa Fe Drive. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is $125, payable through , or in cash on the day of the event.
