GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Two Grand Junction teenagers arrested for allegedly vandalizing a church, breaking into vehicles and committing other crimes each face 38 charges, including 25 felonies.
Mesa County prosecutors filed juvenile charges against the 17-year-old boys Tuesday. The charges include arson, burglary and criminal mischief.
District Attorney Pete Hautzinger says he won’t pursue adult charges against the teens because neither has what Hautzinger believes to be an aggravated criminal past.
The two were arrested May 19.
They’re accused of setting a fire in Trinity Baptist Church and causing other damage there; burglarizing the Orchard Mesa Little League; breaking into eight vehicles and a storage shed; and stealing a car.
