PUEBLO, Colo.—Natural gas service is being restored to homes and businesses in Aguilar and Walsenburg now that a ruptured gas line has been repaired.
Nearly 5 inches of rain caused the pipeline to burst at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, and emergency officials turned off the natural gas supply.
Crews repaired 300 feet of the pipe over the weekend and starting turning on service lines and lighting pilot lights at about 8 a.m. Sunday.
Walsenburg’s Web site says city workers can only restore service to individual homes and businesses if someone is present to allow them to light the pilot light.
It wasn’t immediately clear how long it might take for service to be fully restored.
Walsenburg and Aguilar are 45 and 60 miles south of Pueblo respectively.
